These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the diary apps provided by Researcher’s Quill (“we,” “us,” or “our”), including Diary App and Prompted Diary App (each, an “App”), on iOS, Android, and the web. By creating an account or using an App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Apps.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Apps. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Apps only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your login details and any PIN you set private, and for all activity under your account. Please contact us right away at service@researchersquill.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
3. Your Content
Your diary entries belong to you. We do not claim ownership of anything you write. You give us only the limited permission needed to store, back up, and display your entries to you so the App can work. We do not sell your entries or share them with other users. How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
4. Premium Membership and Auto-Renewal
- Price: Premium Membership costs $12.00 USD per year, plus any applicable taxes. Prices may vary by country or app store.
- Automatic renewal: Your membership renews automatically every year at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your payment method will be charged within 24 hours before each renewal.
- Price changes: If the price changes, we will notify you in advance, and the new price will apply only at your next renewal.
- Separate memberships: Diary App and Prompted Diary App are separate products. A membership for one does not unlock the other.
5. How to Cancel
You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium access until the end of the period you already paid for. Deleting your account or the App does not cancel a subscription purchased through Apple or Google, so please cancel first.
- iPhone / iPad (Apple App Store): Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → select the App → Cancel Subscription.
- Android (Google Play): Google Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → select the App → Cancel.
- Web purchases: Use the “Manage subscription” link in your purchase receipt email, or email service@researchersquill.com and we will cancel it for you.
6. Refunds
Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are subject to those stores’ refund policies, and refund requests must be made to Apple or Google directly. For purchases made on the web, payments are non-refundable and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial membership periods, except where required by law. If you believe you were charged in error, please contact us at service@researchersquill.com within 30 days of the charge.
7. Acceptable Use
Please do not misuse the Apps. For example, do not attempt to access other users’ accounts or data, interfere with or disrupt the Apps or their servers, reverse engineer the Apps except where permitted by law, or use the Apps for any unlawful purpose.
8. Third-Party Services
The Apps rely on trusted third-party services, including Google Firebase (account and data storage), RevenueCat (subscription management), Stripe (web payments), and the Apple App Store and Google Play (in-app purchases). Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms.
9. Changes to the Apps and These Terms
We may update the Apps and these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App or by email. Continuing to use the Apps after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
10. Ending Your Use
You may stop using the Apps and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms. Before deleting your account, we recommend exporting any entries you wish to keep, as deleted entries cannot be recovered.
11. Disclaimers
The Apps are provided “as is” and “as available.” We work hard to keep the Apps reliable and your entries safe, but we cannot guarantee that the Apps will always be uninterrupted or error-free, or that data will never be lost. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Researcher’s Quill will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Apps. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Apps is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the laws of your place of residence require otherwise.
14. Apple App Store Users
If you downloaded an App from the Apple App Store, these Terms are between you and Researcher’s Quill, not Apple. Apple has no responsibility for the App or its content, no obligation to provide support, and is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you. Any portions of Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement not covered here also apply.
